by Eva Romanick July 1, 2022
    written by Eva Romanick

The University of Alberta Library subscribes to numerous databases that are core for certain disciplines, but also really deserving of wider attention. Here is one of those gems…

Canadiana Online primarily relates to Canadian History and Canadian Government, but everyone can enjoy exploring this interesting historical database compiled by the Canadian Research Knowledge Network / Réseau Canadien de Documentation pour la Recherche (CRKN) since 1978.

    Start your search here

Explore the threads that make up our Canadian fabric… women’s history, Indigenous history, exploration and anthropology, immigration, Canadian literature, genealogy and local history, military history, law, politics, medicine & more.

Read the national treasure Anne of Green Gables / by L.M. Montgomery : illustrated by M.A. and W.A.J. Claus Boston : L.C. Page, 1908; 471 pages, 461 with full-text search

Canadiana Online is one of the few dual language digital archive databases (English & French) and collects scholarly journal content, while expanding support for the digitization and preservation of, and access to, Canadian heritage content.

    The Maple Leaf : Vol. I, No. 1 (September 1915) 90 pages, 89 with full-text search

The CRKN’s mission is to make Canadian heritage content accessible in a sustainable manner. It represents 81 institutions across Canada including world-class academic libraries and research institutions, two national libraries, and Canada’s largest public library system. (Psssst! Our Chief Librarian, Dale Askey is also on the Board of Directors!)

Hockey club’s benefit! [Ontario] : publisher not identified, [1897?] ([Ontario] : Statesman Print

    Happy discovery!
