As the fall term comes to an end, and we draw closer to the end of this challenging year, everyone deserves to take a break, a breath and do something that brings us joy. For some of us that might mean an invigorating outdoor adventure, while others may prefer some cozy, quiet time with a good book, perhaps even… a colouring book. If you are amongst the artistically inclined, or long for the days when you could sit for hours on end with a box of crayons and a stack of colouring pages, you might be interested in the Images of Research (IOR) Colouring Book.

Created to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Images of Research competition, the IOR Colouring Book features 11 colouring pages inspired by 11 entries from past IOR competitions . All you need to do is download the book, print out the pages and go wild with the Crayolas. If you have the tablet tech could even digitally colour the pages! We encourage everyone to download the book, turn on some soothing music or a movie (our recent blog post Taking Back 2020, has some excellent suggestions) and start plying your own creative flourishes to these images created by some of our most innovative graduate students.

And, as a bonus, if you are a graduate student or are planning on entering a graduate program at the U of A in the coming years, you might find some inspiration for your own entry to future IOR competitions. Looking into the crystal ball towards 2021, we can say that IOR will be back in a pandemic friendly digital format. Please check back in the New Year for more information…

Until then keep calm and colour on!
