The University of Alberta Library is an important stakeholder for scholarly publishing in Canada. Our open access publishing program supports open, sustainable, and responsible models of scholarly communication, and includes more than 70 journals. Check out some of the new issues below!

New Journal Issues

Constellations
Vol. 15 (2024): 2023/2024 – student published
Constellations is a student-run, student-written, and student-reviewed undergraduate journal, using a traditional peer-review system common to academic journals. Established in 2009, Constellations is the longest-running undergraduate journal at the University of Alberta.

Crossings: An Undergraduate Arts Journal
Vol. 4, No. 1 (2024) – student published
Crossings publishes written and media work completed by students in the fine arts, humanities, and social sciences at the University of Alberta. This project is published annually in print and digital editions.

IASSIST Quarterly
Vol. 48, No. 2
IASSIST Quarterly is a peer-reviewed, indexed, open access quarterly publication of articles dealing with social science information and data services, including relevant societal, legal, and ethical issues.

International Journal of Critical Care (IJCC)
Vol. 18, No. 1 (2024)
IJCC is a peer-reviewed international journal accepting submissions from the global community of critical care. IJCC publishes research reports, systematic reviews, quality improvement and practice development studies, case studies, expert professional opinion statements, editorials and letters to the editor on every aspect of critical care with a focus on research evidence, innovation and improvement of patient outcomes.

Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship (ISTL)
No. 107 (2024): Summer
Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes substantive content of interest to science and technology librarians. It serves as a vehicle for sci-tech librarians to share successful initiatives and innovative ideas, and to publish peer-reviewed or board-accepted papers, including case studies, practical applications, theoretical essays, and

research papers relevant to the functions and operations of science and technology libraries in all settings. Through its columns ISTL also publishes web/bibliographies, reviews, opinions, and best practices. ISTL is a publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries, Science and Technology Section (ACRL/STS).

Journal of Juvenilia Studies (JJS)
Vol. 6 (2023-24)
JJS is published twice yearly by the International Society of Literary Juvenilia (ISLJ). They publish original scholarly essays on all aspects of juvenilia studies, with a particular focus on literary and visual works of art; they also aim to provide a forum for a broad range of theoretical approaches and methodologies, in order to reflect and contribute to the international and interdisciplinary nature of the field of juvenilia studies.

Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association / Journal de l’Association des bibliothéques de la santé du Canada (JCHLA / JABSC)
Vol. 45 No. 2 (2024): August
Formerly known as Bibliotheca Medica Canadiana (BMC), JCHLA / JABSC is a triannual, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to providing a voice for issues and interests shared by Canadian health science librarians and health libraries. Submissions on a wide range of topics will be considered.

JABSC / JCHLA est une revue en accès ouvert publiée trois fois par an. Il est hébergé par les bibliothèques de l’Université de l’Alberta. Phenomenology & Practice
Vol. 19, No. 1 (2024): Regular Issue: Summer
Phenomenology & Practice is a human science journal dedicated to the study of the lived experience of a broad range of human practices. These include (but are not limited to) the professional practices of pedagogy, design, counseling, psychology, social work, and health science.
