Let’s celebrate Open Education Week 2023 this March with a month-long event – the Open Education Talks series. Beginning on the 1st of March, Open Education Talks offers weekly lunch-hour lightning presentations about the role of open education in post secondary institutions. Building on the success of last year’s Open Pedagogy Talks, this series creates another chance to share and learn about recent projects, challenges and achievements taking place in local and national open education initiatives.

Organized collaboratively between the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Thompson Rivers University, Concordia University (Edmonton) and University of British Columbia, the Open Education Talks create an accessible, virtual space to engage in conversations about open pedagogy and learning, using open educational resources, and integrating open materials and strategies in higher education. Specifically, this year presenters are being encouraged to showcase the important role of student-educator collaborations in open education.

Each week’s presentations are organized around a theme:

March 1 : Institutional Pathways and Open Scholarship

March 2: Using Open Education in Student and Academic Development

March 15: Using Open Educational Resources for Interactive Learning

March 22: Creating Open Educational Resources

March 29: Partnerships for Open Education

Register once to attend the entire series or drop in on any one of the sessions at your convenience.  The Open Education Talks take place from 12 – 1 pm (MST).
