    • Date: Tuesday, March 10, 2020
    • Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    • Location: ECHA 2 – 150

In this public talk, Dr. Korinek will share histories of the queer west from the 1930s-1985, drawing on her research from her recently published book Prairie Fairies.  Her talk will highlight women’s and men’s experiences across the prairies, in both urban and rural settings.  “Pride of Place” offers a corrective to the conventional narratives of the west that omit, or exclude, queer people and queer histories.  Equally important, this lecture offers histories of resistance, resilience and activism throughout the region.
