Two years ago, the Geoffrey + Robyn Sperber Health Sciences Library opened its doors, creating a bright and welcoming space for our campus community. In celebration this special “Sperberversay” we’re taking a look back at some of the news highlights from the past year.

Your New Favourite Study Spot? (August 2025)

The library space itself has been a star of the past year’s story. We were thrilled to see the recent article written by Terrence for YouAlberta this summer: “Your new favourite study spot? A look inside the Sperber Health Sciences Library” – Terrence explores this bright and accessible space in ECHA, which might be your perfect place to focus (and maybe even play some Beat Saber!). Learn more about Sperber Library: library.ualberta.ca/locations/sperber. This link provides information for hours, study room bookings, the VR and Media labs, Indigenous Learning Space and much more!

New additions to the Indigenous Healing Collection (June 2025)

During Indigenous History Month we shared some of the newest books added to our Indigenous Healing collection: Browsing our collections: Indigenous Healing. You can explore the collection anytime by visiting the library or by searching our catalogue for the location: Sperber – Indigenous Healing Collection

Media Lab Spotlight (March 2025)

The Media Lab is a popular bookable space for audio and video recording projects. Early this spring we were happy to feature the “Behind the Labs” podcast recorded in the Sperber Media Lab by students Jashan, Yuvraj, and Arpit. Here’s our interview from March 2025: Introducing “Behind the Labs” podcast

Our First “Sperberversary”!

Looking back to last year, our first “Sperberversary” marked a significant milestone. And now, as we celebrate our second year, we are filled with gratitude for all our students, staff, alumni, and community members who have visited, studied, and asked questions. Thank you for being a part of our story. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings and look forward to welcoming you into our space for many years to come!

Elisabet has worked at University of Alberta Library since 2015 at Bibliothèque Saint-Jean, Cameron Library and currently at Rutherford Library. She loves exploring our amazing province and beyond in her hand-crafted teardrop camper (which she built herself).
